Bee kind committee meeting minutes 1-29-2023 @4pm Minutes by lead Ben Rogers 10 in attendance Ben, Jesse, Bee, Janice, Rob, Richard, Jay, Gaye, Ken, and Bruce

Introductions and open Discussion about what everyone wants to do with bees. Several people are interested in classes this spring, making hive boxes for their home, using bee products made locally by good people, sharing honey harvesting supplies, queen rearing, merit badge for kids, bees pollination benefits in the garden, and potentially caring for bees at the maker space.

Discussion about what we have been working on already: -classes -Building hives for home sites -honey dippers -departments that might want to use wax -apiarists who we have talked to and what they recommend -Storage for bee supplies in one of the classrooms -currently no bees allowed on site

Discussion on what we should work on -concerns around bees and how to address them

    Allergic reactions 
    Cost of epi pen
    Recommendation of benadryl 
    Space requirements 
    Health of bees
    Legal liability
    Abandonment 
    Signage

-how to educate the general public

    Do we want hives at MakeICT? -everyone yes
    What are the next steps as a committee?
    -Schedule first 5 week beginner bee keeping course. 
    -Present to board to update our intent
         Bee kind committee board request 2-16-2023(insert link when available)
    -Ben, meet with apiarist again and discuss best sites, future classes, Schedule this summer and getting supplies for the space
    -we should meet again to plan further after hearing back from the board.
