Name alignment between various locations - Jai

  • Patrick & James L. to follow up with Tom B. to close this issue out
    • Jai says the state of Kansas does not consider a difference in our name with or without a space
    • Secretary of state’s online system considers us the same entity, if we want to change the space we need to talk to a human.
    • Filing was updated for June 15th
    • need to look into if there is a penalty for filing late so that the current board can be listed (no penalty for filing late up to September)
  • Network for Good (Facebook) has been administering funds (not sure if all funds have been sent)
  • Name Alignment between secretary of state and IRS
    • Not a show stopping issue at this point
    • AS STATED IN PAST MEETINGS THERE IS NO SPACE BETWEEN MAKE AND ICT

  • Still need to meet with finance,
  • Needs to be a certain operating system to work with our VPN
  • Needs a large screen given how much goes on with all the spreadsheets for finances

New Business

Treasurer’s Report - Gary

  • Woodshop Fundraiser (still waiting on money from grant)
  • next finance meeting will be on Monday September 19th at 6:30pm
  • MakeICT was put in the wrong category for Property Taxes, Jai filed a protest and had a hearing, More hoops are being jumped through, but should be resolved by September hopefully

July Minutes Approval

  • Board to review August 5th minutes in September board meeting pending review by James and Ethan.
  • Board to review September 18th minutes
  • Minutes have been updated from previous board meetings

Muse Meridian

  • Muse Meridian is focused on helping underserved youths and follows a similar mission statement to MakeICT but with an emphasis on musical outreach
  • They would like to start a partnership with MakeICT where we send people each other's way as we see opportunities arise
  • Potentially co-host events together in the future
  • Currently setup at Maple and Meridian
  • Potentially be an additional spot for Makers to consign their goods
  • Would like to have MakeICT setup a booth and join them at their open house on Oct 1st.

Motion? (to formalize the partnership between MakeICT and Muse Meridian)

Gallery Wall

  • Ernst Kind requests $400 to build and create a wall outside of room 4 to display and showcase gallery pieces
  • The $400 would cover the cost of 2x4s, plywood, drywall, and mud and tape for a 20ft wall
  • Would like to have the wall completed by the 26th for the first show
  • The first show would feature an artist that will be leaving the country at the start of October

Bento Swap

  • Currently being charged monthly for use of the bento cards
  • Takes 3 days to transfer funds or change limits
  • We do not earn interest on any of the funds sitting in the bento account
  • Emprise is willing to provide each area lead with a ‘card’ for no charge
  • Suggest getting Emprise cards for each area lead and shut down the Bento cards once cards are received
  • Need to verify that individuals will be able to access individual cards to check balances

Kansas Non-Profit Chamber of Commerce

  • Half the board recently met with the KNC to figure out ways to improve the structure
  • In the process, the board learned of many opportunities through KNC that would help MakeICT grow by figuring out a way around some previous roadblocks
  • By joining, this would also give members access to tools and resources on the KNC website
  • Cost would be $150/yr

  • Had a kickoff meeting in August (4 of the 6 attendees were not directors or leads)
  • Request for allocation of space: Classroom 1 Closet for storage of materials and tools for Visual Arts committee

  • Cardboard Regatta
    • Had 3 teams, 20 members, and 50 lake goers for the event
    • Already been asked several times to do the event again next year (might have to be August 26th)
    • Total cost to host event: $34 for insurance and $35 for 1 hr of an Augusta deputy's time = $69
